Imagine you go for a run one morning and completely forget who you are, where you live, or who you know. Your sense of identity evaporates, time moves differently, and someone else has to piece together what happened while you were away. This is a reality for .2 percent of the population. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, dissociative fugue is an extremely rare form of amnesia that involves difficulty remembering important information about identity and life history. Episodes of dissociative fugue can last from a few hours to a few years. Sufferers can experience a single episode in their lives, or it can be a chronic condition with multiple episodes. If you’ve ever seen the film The Bourne Identity with Matt Damon, dissociative fugue might sound familiar. For teacher Hannah Upp, this was real life.  Subscribe to Jami’s YouTube channel @JamiOnAir: https://www.youtube.com/@jamionair Follow Jami @JamiOnAir on Instagram and TikTok.
