Leah Roberts Replay

In March 2000, 23-year-old Leah Roberts packed up some of her belongings along with her new kitten into her Jeep and headed west for Washington. She left behind a note telling her loved ones not to worry and that she’d be back, but nearly 25 years later, Leah is still missing. Destiny McClain Replay

Destiny McClain was shot and killed outside Karamba Nightclub at 17th and McDowell in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 18, 2021. A car was seen leaving the area eastbound on McDowell Road from 17th Street. Sodder Family Interview with Miranda Weeks, Great Great Granddaughter of Jennie and George Sodder

At around 1:00 am on December 25, 1945, Jennie Sodder woke up to smoke pouring into her bedroom. She woke up her husband, George, and they started evacuating the house of their nine children. By the time the fire took over the Sodder residence, only Jennie, George, and four of their children made it outside safely. George and two of his sons frantically tried to get into the house to save the remaining children, but they couldn’t. When George went to fill up a bucket with water to start extinguishing the flames, the water was frozen, when he went to grab their ladder to get his children from the top story, the ladder was missing; when he went to drive his trucks to the second story window, neither would start despite having worked just the day before. And when they tried to call the fire department for help, no one responded for hours. The only thing the family could do was watch as their home burned to the ground. Hours later, after the smoldering ashes were put out, a group of people began searching for the children’s remains, but nothing was found. Not a single bone was found in the ashes. The fire was quickly ruled an accident, and investigators told the family the children’s bodies had burned up completely in the fire, leaving nothing of them behind, not even their bones. But between the mishaps, while trying to put out the fire, threats made against the family before the fire, and the strange behavior of authorities throughout the investigation, Jennie and George Sodder refused to believe five of their children were killed in the home. They were convinced their children didn’t die in the fire, and they spent the rest of their lives trying to prove it. The Boca Raton Mall Kidnappings

Christie Farni

On December 14, 1978, six-year-old Christi Lynn Farni testified in front of a grand jury to describe the abuse she suffered from her father. Just hours later, she was reported missing to the Medford, Oregon, police department. Her case is now the oldest unsolved case of a missing child in the entire county. Christie is white with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was 3’8” and weighed approximately 50lbs. She also spoke with a slight speech impediment, has a burn scar on her chest, and her ears are pierced. As of the recording of this episode, she would be 53 years old. Margaret and Seana Tapp

In 1984, the Tapp family made a home at 13 Kelvin Drive in the Melbourne suburb of Ferntree Gully, Victoria, Australia. It’s been described as a safe, peaceful suburb with a near-zero crime rate. 35-year-old Margaret Tapp thought it was the ideal place to raise her two children, 9-year-old Seana and 14-year-old Justin. She’d been divorced from her husband, Donald Tapp for about 5 years and was full steam ahead with forging this new life for herself and her children. She worked full-time as a nurse and was in her third year studying law full-time at Monash University. Her goal was to combine her work experience to specialize in medical malpractice cases. Anaiah Walker Re-release

Anaiah Walker entered the Arizona foster care system at age 13. Before her 14th birthday, she was trafficked by adults posing as teenagers online. By age 15, she ran away from several group homes and was officially listed as a missing child with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Just after her 16th birthday, she was supposed to testify against her abusers in court, but on May 22, 2020, Anaiah was found dead in a ditch on Interstate 10 near Watson Road. Her cause of death was high-velocity impact. She has never received justice. The Buckeye Police Department is searching for a 2016 to 2018 Honda Civic EX or LX in the color Midnight Burgundy Pearl. They say the owner may have replaced the driver’s side door mirror cover, the front bumper, and the left front fog light cover after Anaiah’s death. 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard was last seen in Colorado, near the Utah border, on October 9th, 2025. She has brown curly hair, brown eyes, is approximately 4’6” tall, and weighs between 60 and 100lbs. Her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, was driving a rented 2024 white Chevy Malibu. Authorities estimate that 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard has been missing from Vandenberg Village, California, since October 7, 2025. She was last seen with her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, when she was driving a rented white Chevy Malibu, license plate number 9MNG101, from California to Nebraska between October 7th, 2025, and October 14th, 2025. She is no longer in possession of that vehicle, but investigators have asked the public to report any information they may have about Ashlee, Melodee, or the vehicle between those dates to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at 805-681-4150. How much of what we watch in true crime entertainment is actually true? And what happens when a story is rewritten for the screen, replacing a family's painful, decades-long mystery with a neat, tidy, and conclusive fictional story? The new season of Netflix's Monster is a global phenomenon. But in its telling of the Ed Gein story, it presents a young woman named Evelyn Hartley as one of his confirmed victims. It's a gripping narrative. There's just one problem. According to the official investigation, it's not true. My mission in this episode is to tell the true, unresolved story of Evelyn Hartley's disappearance, to reclaim the facts from the fiction, and to remember the girl who vanished long before she was ever a character on a screen. 14-year-old Evelyn Grace Hartley was last seen on October 24, 1953, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She has brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was 5’6” and weighed approximately 126lbs. She was last seen wearing red jeans, a white blouse, and white bobby socks. In Austin, Texas, in 1991, the city was on the verge of becoming the place we know today, a tech hub, a cultural destination. At the Hillside strip mall on West Anderson Lane, there was a little shop called "I Can't Believe It's Yogurt!" Amber Hoopes

On September 14, 2001, 20-year-old Amber Shawnell Hoopes vanished from her grandparents' Idaho Falls home. Amber was last seen reading a magazine and watching TV around 10:35 p.m., but by 1:00 a.m., she was gone. Her family quickly suspected foul play. Suspicion immediately focused on Keith "Mark" Hescock, a disgruntled former employee of Amber's grandfather. Amber is white, about 5’5”, with brown hair and brown eyes, and weighed approximately 140 pounds when she disappeared. She also has vitiligo with some white colored spots on her upper left arm and left leg. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray boxer shorts, and her knee-length terry cloth robe. Update: Blake Chappell

17-year-old Blake Chappell went missing in October 2011 after attending his homecoming dance. His body was found in a nearby creek two months later. The autopsy confirmed Blake died from a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide. Officials believe he was only in the water for about a week, leaving his whereabouts unknown for weeks. On September 12, 2025, Scotty Elliot Smith was arrested for Blake's murder. In the early morning hours of May 20th, 1990, 29-year-old mother of two, Susan Poupart, went to a party, was seen getting into a car with some men in Lac du Flambeau, and was never seen alive again. This case has defied resolution for 35 years. It has also cast a profound, enduring shadow over a family and entire community in Northern Wisconsin. In 1996, 13-year-old Rachel Marie Mellon-Skemp stayed home sick from school. By the end of the day, she, along with a blanket and two pillows from her bed, had vanished into the freezing Illinois winter. There were no witnesses and no trail leading to where Rachel may have gone, and the only story we have comes from the last person to see her alive. Rachel Marie Mellon-Skemp was last seen on January 31st, 1996, in Bolingbrook, Illinois. She is Asian and White with black hair and hazel eyes. At the time of her disappearance, her hair was shoulder length, she was about 5 feet tall, and weighed approximately 80lbs. On a cold morning in 2011, Julia Biryukova pulled her car to the side of the road, claiming it ran out of gas. She says she left her 2-year-old son, Sky, asleep in the vehicle while she took her 4-year-old daughter to get help. When she returned, Sky was gone. What followed was a case that has continued to stun the local community and, really, the nation for nearly 15 years. 2-year-old Sky Metalwala was reported missing from Bellevue, Washington, on November 6, 2011.
