贝克汉姆夫妻和他们的完美英音进化论

『英音』有些Native Speakers根本不会聊天!@百万英音巴士

『英音』有些Native Speakers根本不会聊天!@百万英音巴士

哟,这篇广播来自微信公众号百万英音巴士的主理人,百万英音老司机阿姨百万姑娘。。。(好拗口orz)。。她的英音那是好听的没话说!你也来感受一下吧!请配合以下文字聆听:A lot of native speakers are happy that English hasbecome the world’s global language. They feel they don’t have to spend timelearning another language.很多母语为英语的人(以下简称NS-native speakers)认为:反正全世界都在学英语,我干嘛还要学外语哦~According to professor Jennifer Jenkins, nativespeakers of English generally are monolingual and are not very good at tuninginto language variation.但是根据JJ教授的观点,正因如此很多NS都只会讲单一的语言,(就是英语啊…)而且在讲英语的时候,完全放飞自我,不顾及别人听不听得懂! “Often you havea boardroom full of people from different countries talking in English and allunderstanding each other. Suddenly the American or Brit walks into the room andnobody can understand them.”JJ老师说,“好好地一屋子人开着会,聊啊,各种和谐。突然进来一美国或者土豆国人,怎么样?气氛瞬间僵硬。没人听得懂他们了。”Non-native speakers generally use more limitedvocabulary and simpler expressions, without flowery language or slang. Becauseof that, they understand one another at face value. Jenkins found, forinstance, that international students at a British university understood eachother well in English and swiftly adapted to helping the least fluent membersin any group.英语不是母语的人(简称NNS)通常因为词汇量有限,在表达的时候,没有花里胡哨的成分,就用朴实简单的方式交流。所以NNS之间交流通常都是很顺利的,没有揣测,没有紧张,一切就是表面的意思。举个栗子。 英国学校的留学生,不仅互相沟通都很顺利,还能照顾最不6的那个小伙伴呢。‘What the hell is ETA?’  One bugbear is abbreviations.“The first time I worked in an international contextsomebody said ‘Eta 16:53’ and I thought ‘What the hell is ETA?’,” says aninternational student. “To add to the confusion, some of the abbreviations inBritish English are very different from American English.”据一名留学生说,我第一次出国,有人跟我讲 “16:53 ETA哦”我就哔了狗。ETA是什么鬼东西啦! “更加过分的是,英式跟美式的缩略语还不通用!”搞毛线~!And then there’s cultural style. When a Brit reacts toa proposal by saying, “That’s interesting” a fellow Brit might recognise thisas understatement for, “That’s rubbish.” But other nationalities would take theword “interesting” on face value, he says.除了缩略语的坑,还有文化坑。(这里就是喜闻乐见的"因吹斯挺"梗,打字手很酸诶,音频马上就讲到了。)Giving others a chance俾个机会啦(此段可以Ctrl+V给经常讲话让你听不懂的歪果朋友、同事、老师、老板,后果均不由百万承担)When trying to communicate in English with a group ofpeople with varying levels of fluency, it’s important to be receptive andadaptable, tuning your ears into a whole range of different ways of using English.当你跟NNS交流的时候,他们的英语水平参差不齐,所以确保你讲话能让人听懂,不会太难。多听听身边人讲话,和他们使用英语的习惯It could be that the non-native speaker is trying toformulate a sentence. You just have to wait a heartbeat and give them a chance.Otherwise, after the meeting they come up and say, ‘What was all that about?’Or they walk away and nothing happens because they haven’t understood.”

Greetings!这是来自沪江史上最长口语课老师的激情广播。DDM先生年轻的时候居住在英国,熟悉英语和英语文化,对发音,表达方式和各地口音有着较深的造诣。悄悄说一句,他也是设计师,抖抖猫表情包的设计师就是这位DDM先生~This ought to be a shock to everybody, that 30% of Chinese English learner are confused with the word Guy and Gay.That’s right. They can’t distinguish these two.可能很多人会惊讶30%的中国学英语的孩子分不清Guy和Gay两个单词是的!他们居然分不开这两词。Sometimes people leave comments in my class or this Wechat Blog, saying that DDM sensei, you are guy. You are very guy.First I thought, wow, they are complimenting my manhood. I am probably a very manly man. Then I thought, wait, I didn’t do anything manly in class, but I did tell awful lot of gay jokes. Oh,shit. They saying I am Gay?很多朋友留言在我的微信公众号或者课上“DDM老师,你是汉子(Guy),你真汉子(Guy)”一开始我看到时觉得哇,他们在赞美我的雄性风采我是条真汉子然后我转念一想等等我在课上从来没有表现过任何体现汉子的事情不过我经常调侃同性恋(Gay)我去他们难道说我Gay吗!?And later I found out that the pupils who mix up these 2 words are not a few. What a dangerous thing I thought. So tonight we are going to make this really clear.  Guy means boys, fellow, buddies, bros.Gay means homosexuals, queers, butt buddies.之后我发现搞混这两个的孩子不占少数这不是挺可怕的吗?所以今晚我们一定来搞清楚这两个单词:Guy的意思是男的,伙计,朋友,兄弟Gay的意思是同性恋,基佬,屁股兄弟When you go to a business conference,  or go into your office, if you say” Morning, Gays!” Wow, what a homophobic, people would think. Or maybe they might think you are coming out, and even compliment you using words like glowing, radiant, or even dazzle. (FYI those are the proper adjectives to compliment a gay person, I’ve been told.)如果你开商务会议或者走进办公室你说“早上好,Gay!”同事一定会想“哇,这家伙是在搞同性恋歧视吗”或者他们会以为你“出柜”了甚至对你使用靓丽,刺眼,炫目等形容词来赞美你(听说这些是赞美同性恋最好的形容词)If you mess up with these 2, He is a good Guy would become He is a good Gay.  Guy Ritchie would be Gay Ritchie. Gay marriage would be Guy marriage.Well this last one probably works.如果你搞错这两个词“他是个好兄弟”会变成“他是个好基佬”Guy Ritchie(麦当娜的前任老公)会变成“基佬Ritchie”“同性恋合法婚姻”(美国2015年6月合法化)会变成“兄弟结婚”好吧最后一个还有点道理=_=So, let’s get this straight, once and forall.Guys are Boys.Gays are Boys who love other boys. 我们今天就一劳永逸的记住Guy=男孩Gay=喜欢男孩的男孩So never make the same mistake ever again, and Share this post to your friends so that they don’t confuse any more. And most importantly, Don’t call DDM sensei gay.

Morning-room in Algernon’s flat in Half-Moon Street. The room is luxuriouslyand artistically furnished. The sound of a piano is heard in theadjoining room.半月街亚吉能寓所的起居室,布置豪华而高雅。邻室传来钢琴声。[Lane is arranging afternoon tea on the table, and after the music hasceased, Algernon enters.](老林正把下午茶点端上桌来。钢琴声止,亚吉能上。)Algernon.Did you hear what I was playing, Lane?老林,你刚才听见我弹琴没有?  Lane.I didn’t think it polite to listen, sir.先生,偷听人家弹琴,只怕没礼貌吧。  Algernon.I’m sorry for that, for your sake. I don’t play accurately—any one can play accurately—but I play with wonderful expression. As far as the piano is concerned, sentiment is my forte. I keep science for Life.真为你感到可惜。我弹琴并不准确——要弹得准确,谁都会——可是我弹得表情十足。就弹琴而言,我的长处在感情。至于技巧嘛,我用来对付生活。Lane.Yes, sir.对呀,先生。 Algernon.And, speaking of the science of Life, have you got the cucumber sandwiches cut for Lady Bracknell?对了,说到生活的技巧,巴夫人要的黄瓜三明治你为她切好了没有?  Lane.Yes, sir. [Hands them on a salver.]好了,先生。(递上一盘黄瓜三明治)Algernon.Where are they?在哪?Lane. They are here, sir.在这,先生。

The boss is out of the office today, so I consider it a holiday. Today, I can be a little out of it if I want to be. Carmen: Out of it? You’re sleeping on the job – literally! Elias: So what? Aren’t you feeling a little tired on a Monday morning? Carmen: I admit I’m a little sluggish, but that’s no reason to fall down on the job. We both have work to get done and I’m doing it. Elias: What’s wrong with you? Why are you so hyper? I’m as hard working as the next guy, but I’m not going to jump through hoops when the boss is away. Carmen: You, hard working? Don’t make me laugh! You’d better get back to work or when the boss gets back, he’ll call you a slacker again. Elias: Okay, I’m learning by your example. I’m now as energetic and productive as you are. Carmen: Yeah? Doing what? Elias: Telling my co-worker she’s a pain in the neck! 本音频来自百度英音吧,获得音频主人允许发到这里~ 该音频由CCTalk英音代言菌(白娘子)编辑 CCTalk:纯净的知识技能学习语音交流平台(语言及其他技能) http://class.hujiang.com/zt/cctalk/
