In this encore mash-up, Alicia brings us the 90s-era heartbreaker split with the marriage and divorce of actors Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh. Then, Stacie continues the thread with actress Helena Bonham Carter, whose post-Branagh relationship, with director Tim Burton, began every bit as controversially as the one with Ken had.Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? For a certain kind of political obsessive, the Trumpworld dispatches penned by Olivia Nuzzi in the first term were almost too on-the-nose. Still in her 20s then, her ability to paint the distorted, distorting figures that inhabited the era in prose was always interesting and often revelatory. And then, she fell in love with a subject, then-presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and her life, her job, and her engagement to fellow journalist Ryan Lizza imploded. A year on, the release of a memoir purportedly about these events has her back in the news, but absolutely nothing is going according to plan.Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? When two visionaries meet, strange things can happen. So it was for Natalie Massenet, founder of upscale shopping site Net-a-Porter, and Swedish creative director and Frame founder Erik Torstensson. The high fashion power couple parlayed their early successes into venture capital projects - including Skims - and then shocked their world in August 2025 with a bombshell lawsuit from Natalie alleging all kinds of inappropriate conduct by Erik, her partner of many years. It appears that things haven't blown over so much as having been fastidiously swept under a designer rug. Since crossing into stardom with 1992's Basic Instinct, actress Sharon Stone has certainly had some adventures, both in her career and her personal life. It's actually difficult to summarize today's tale, but suffice it to say, there's a lot in here for fans of some of Hollywood's most notorious lounge lizards, as well as lizards of other sorts. Everyone knows that JFK was a man of vociferous appetites when it came to women, but the secret story of a possible love child fathered with a teenage maid in the Hyannis Port compound is not commonly known. Many questions persist, but the tale of JFK's maybe-baby-mama, Alicia Corning Clark, is such a quintessentially American one - from refugee to the Kennedy's to Hollywood and beyond - that we can forgive that much of the mystery remains unresolved. Included within this story are Alicia's marriages, divorces, scandals and so many spiderwebs too, from high society to the top tiers of government.Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? The ACE Family channel on YouTube blew up in a big way in 2016, taking two young parents into realms of wealth and fame they couldn't possibly have planned for - and were clearly unequipped to handle. While the channel grew to some 18 million followers, brand partnerships soured into litigation and the marriage of Catherine Paiz and Austin McBroom eventually collapsed. If you've ever wondered, "What would my life be like if I made my own reality show," the ACE family is the cautionary tale you need.Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? On the occasion of what would have been her 111th birthday, today we revisit Alicia's 2020 story of the incredible life of Hollywood icon Hedy Lamarr. Yes, she was an outstanding and hugely popular actress, but the lesser known part of the story is that Hedy Lamarr was a passionate and gifted inventor. She and composer and pianist George Antheil developed and patented a way to encrypt messages during WWII using different frequencies - an early step on the path to today's technologies like GPS and wi-fi. She was also married six times - lucky us.Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? America's business culture in the mid-century was decidedly drab: men in dark suits with close-cropped hair ruled the day, and in many ways were perfectly primed for disruption. So it was that the youngest division head ever to grace the C-suite at General Motors built a maverick reputation and, upon leaving (or being pushed! Accounts differ) set about to start a car company from scratch. John DeLorean's dream sports car did briefly become a reality, but the ephemera and shady dealings that put a few thousand of them on the road would lead to an epic downfall, and cost him his family as well. We don't often go to breaking news, but over the last few days, English singer and actress Lily Allen opted to nuke her ex, Stranger Things actor David Harbour, from orbit by dropping a new album all about their very messy split. To hear Lily tell it, David is a sex addict who crossed all the boundaries they ever collectively drew, and it's pretty clear that Lily is processing a lot of betrayal out loud, in public, and in real time. We don't yet have David's side of the story on this one, so it seems likely that this isn't our last exploration of the trashy divorce of Lily Allen and David Harbour. It's been a wild few weeks for a number of TD alums. In the Dumpster this week: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, following the shock divorce filing in Nashville on September 30. Is Keith stepping out with a member of his touring band, and should we be concerned that he's currently on a tour he titled HIGH AND ALIVE after his well-documented troubles with substance misuse? Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater are once again the subject of rumbles in the press wondering if the magic has faded after he blew up his marriage a few years back during the filming of Wicked. Bill Belichick might just be the most overrated coach in all of football, and UNC might be wondering why they didn't just hire Tom Brady to coach their football team. Finally, sweet Jessica Simpson is once again going through a divorce, but she seems to really have a great attitude about it. Let's bright-side the s*** out of everything, Trash Pandas. Today, Alicia has the sad tale of the King and Queen of the Jazz Age, writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. Though they never divorced, the story is a great illustration of the reality that some marriages don’t work, and a lot of people would be better off ending a marriage rather than staying in it. That's what Alicia wishes that Zelda had decided, dancing away from their doomed marriage a century ago instead of disappearing into it. The promise of ABC's The Bachelor is the dream of happily ever after, but as we all know, well-lit reality TV filmed in romantic locations doesn't reflect the reality most of us live in. And so it was for Rachel Lindsay, lawyer and the season 13 lead of The Bachelorette, who chose chiropractor Bryan Abasolo for her final rose, and married him a couple of years later. This week, Alicia is celebrating the 135th birthday of the mother of the modern mystery genre: Agatha Christie. And while Agatha Christie's novels held the public's attention, her disappearance in December 1926 galvanized the public and brought various personal scandals - namely, her husband Archie's infidelity - to light, in a way that nothing else could have. It's always exciting when celebrity worlds collide. In this case, it's reality TV star Kristin Cavallari and NFL pro Jay Cutler, and when they settled into matrimonial bliss early in the last decade, it sure seemed like things were great. In the 18th century, modern Germany continued to be a patchwork of various duchies, which kept German nobles in the marriage rotation throughout Europe. So it was that two brothers - Ernst and Leopold - came into the world in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld in 1784 and 1790. One would become the King of Belgium, and one would be the legal father of Prince Albert, later the husband of Queen Victoria. We say "legal father" because apparently it's not 100% clear that Ernst's estranged wife, the long suffering Princess Louise, wasn't comforting her brother-in-law after the death of his wife, England's Princess Charlotte, whose death in childbirth prompted the Hanoverian race to reproduce that gave the world Queen Victoria. It is, as they say, complicated. Want early, ad-free episodes, regular Dumpster Dives, bonus divorces, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? Join us at patreon.com/trashydivorces! Back in the early 80s, divorce lawyer to the stars (and Trashy Divorces alum) Marvin Mitchelson took on the biggest case of his career - and one that seems to have gotten away from him a bit. Sheika Dena al Fassi, the wife of Saudi businessman (and Saudi royal family member) Mohammed al Fassi, was filing for divorce, and estimates of Mohammed's fortune ran as high as $3 billion. On the one hand, Dena won the divorce case handily. On the other, Mohammed had long since left the United States with their four children and had no intention of paying the settlement that a California court ordered. Even decades later - even decades after both Mohammad and Marvin Mitchelson had died - Dena was still trying to collect on a divorce settlement that grew into the hundreds of millions of dollars through the magic of compound interest.
