The Lock-In 110 - Natalie Bromley

This week, the lads are locked in with poker player, PartyPoker Live ambassador and football podcaster Natalie Bromley. In what is an eclectic episode, the trio buzz around lots of poker stories. Bromley brings her vast experience as a broadcaster and pundit as they discuss the performances of women at the recent NAPT and how it is cementing the idea that 2025 is the biggest year ever for women in poker. The blink and you missed it Doug Polk heads up clash with Ossi ‘Monarch’ Ketola is analysed as David asks whether someone like Ketola should be platformed. The disappointing ‘No Limit’ documentary is reviewed. The trio also grapple with the busy December live schedule, including EPT Prague, The WPT World Championship and the PartyPoker Live London. Dara also previews his upcoming poker course on multi-way spots, David leaks WPT Global’s partnership with the Dublin Poker Festival in February and Nataly talks about her Hearts of Queens charity and its upcoming Christmas appeal.

The Lock-In 103 - David Docherty

This week, we are locked in with Pokerstars Live League Chaser David Docherty right after his trip to Namur and right before his trip to Malaga. Dara has his bags packed (for him) ahead of his trip to the Vegas and he is threatening to unleash a new lucky shirt. David Docherty is convalescing after some kidney stones hampered his trip to Belgium. David Lappin is threatening the poker world with bath pics again. The lads discuss the recent criticisms of the WSOP, in particular the cancelled Online Mystery Bounty event. They also talk about some big name bracelet winners, including Benny Glaser, Nick Schulman and Jason Koon. The Hall Of Fame hopefuls are given some quickfire treatment as Dara and David Docherty decide if certain candidates are going to get in this year, ever or never. There is also some semi-shameless plugging of some genuinely massive promotions on WPT Global, including the 100K added to both Irish Poker Tour 'Summer in Dublin' and WPT Cyprus main events if the winner can emerge from the Freeroll qualifiers on the online client.

The Lock-In 102 - Xuan Liu

The Lock-In 102 - Xuan Liu

This week, we are locked in with Xuan Liu for an exclusive chat after her Triton WPT Global Slam victory in Montenegro. Just hours after announcing their new ambassador deals with WPT Global, which includes sponsorship of all The Chip Race content, Dara and David take some deep dives with Xuan. Dara and David discuss Steve O’Dwyer’s strong words for Daniel Smilijkovic after what he claims are repeated instances of showing up after late registration is closed. The trio talk about the Triton Montenegro with Xuan speaking about her victory and its symbolic importance for women in poker. The ebbing prestige of the WSOP bracelet is discussed as the guys put poker accolades in order of importance. Xuan also talks about her epic schlep across Canada in 2023 when she played in every Canadian province, surviving on a bankroll of just $2000.

The Lock-In 101 - Barry Carter

This we were are locked in for what the lads are saying is their final ever episode the popular Chip Race spin-off (but then they said that on the last episode too). Fittingly, it is Barry who joins them for a chat about the stories of the week. After some shameless plugging of the actually excellent Simplify Poker (Use Code CHIPRACE for 20% off) and some gushing praise for Barry’s new role as poker’s biggest influencer, David kicks things off with some WSOP stories with Dara and Barry weighing in on the potential effect of the US travel restrictions and the new rules for 2025. The lads then segue to the EPT Monte Carlo and a pair of controversies at the Main Event final table, before wrapping things up with a preview of the last ever episode of The Chip Race coming next week.

The Lock-In 97 - Kat Arnsby

The Lock-In 97 - Kat Arnsby

This week, the lads are locked in with poker player, marketeer and Party-Gammon, Kat Arnsby! After briefly discussing Kat’s imminent departure from Kindred, the trio dig up a controversial story from the end of 2024, namely Bonomo getting threatened with WSOP Super Main Event disqualification for wearing a keffiyeh. Kat highlights the hypocrisy of the WSOP who days earlier had run a tournament for the widows and orphans of fallen IDF soldiers. Barny Boatman’s heartfelt statement and generous auctioning of his first WSOP bracelet is also given some consideration. The conversation then turns to the Global Poker Awards with everyone weighing in on some of the most nominated people. The promise of a more full breakdown of each and every category is made for the next episode (which by the way will be from the Unibet Deepstack Open Barcelona). The discussion turns to the issue of poker-bots, specifically in-house poker bots as David plays a clip from the Sigma Panel at which both he and Kat spoke late last year. From that leaping off point, Dara weighs in with his strong take that liquidity bits of this nature would be terrible for the game. Kat defends her position that they can be a positive thing so long as sites are transparent. Nobody changes anyone else’s mind but the debate is held in good spirits and certainly provides both perspectives of a complicated issue. Before closing the curtain on a lively episode, David plugs the upcoming Dublin Poker Festival, for which Unibet Poker is running qualifiers - €50 satellites into both the €570 European Deepstacks and the €350 ACOP.
