WTM Ep. 350: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) With Stan Switek!

WTM Ep. 350: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) With Stan Switek!

At long last we wrap up our focus on horror remakes with the 1978 classic, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Stan Switek is back to help us break it all down and to differentiate between human and pod person. The usual tangents ensue, and in fact there was a pretty decent one that lasted longer than 10 minutes at the onset, so to appease all the folks that would wish we would stay more on topic, I cut it and pasted it to the end of the episode. So if you stick around after the outro and Out-Of-Context clip there's another dozen minutes or so of mind(ful)less banter for your enjoyment. We'll be back next week with Hunter Deusing of the Midnight Movie Cowboys to discuss a new Holiday Horror classic, Thanksgiving (2023). We now have a YouTube channel! As we celebrate All Hallow's Eve, Zolly Becker joined us for a look back at the 2003 remake/reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This episode is jam-packed with discussion on all things Leatherface. Bonus Episode: Mirrorball Movie Cowboys S1 E3: 54 (1998)

Bonus Episode: Mirrorball Movie Cowboys S1 E3: 54 (1998)

This special bonus episode is something Mulder and Stu (from the incredible Midnight Movie Cowboys podcast) concocted back in 2022. We're both unabashed Disco fans so we decided to start a new series of episodes that focused solely on Disco films and the music in them. We did three episodes and they were only available on the MMC YouTube page, until now. We decided to resurrect the series to talk about more Disco films and I thought that we should make the previous 3 episodes available as well. I have re-edited them a bit to add some music (something that wouldn't really fly on YouTube). This episode covers 54 (1998). We discuss all of the various cuts including the newer Director's Cut. We also discuss the club itself, Studio 54, its creators Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell and of course, the music! We have already recorded Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 2 in which we discussed Thank God it's Friday (1978) and Roller Boogie (1979) and it will be released after the Season 1 re-release, so in other words, there's plenty of Disco content coming your way so stay tuned. These episodes will also be available on the MMC feed and I believe the original video episodes are still on their YouTube channel as well. Enjoy! ***REMINDER*** WTM is now on YouTube! WTM Ep. 342: Superman (2025) with Zolly Becker!

WTM Ep. 342: Superman (2025) with Zolly Becker!

We were once again joined by Zolly Becker to discuss the newest product offered up to the general public by James Gunn, Superman (2025). The first half of the episode we discuss the new film without spoilers, then Mulder reviews Watermelon Man (1970) to complete the movie challenge. What follows after that is about 45 additional minutes of Superman discussion WITH spoilers. There are a few tangents but we mostly stay on topic or at least topic adjacent and we pack a lot into this episode, or at least Zolly does. Enjoy! Our next episode cover's Mulder's birthday pick, Skatetown U.S.A. (1979). This should give you ample time to buy the blu ray, which is the only available option to watch it! We finish off our focus on Kevin Costner movies from our youth with the 1989 Baseball/Fantasy/Family Dramedy, Field of Dreams. With us to break it all down is returning guest Mike McGivern. WTM Ep. 337: Top 10 Films of 2024

Note: Apologies for some minor audio issues towards the end of the episode. Not a huge problem but definitely noticeable. We're back with our Top 10 favorite films from 2024. This is a bit of a hybrid/recently seen episode as well because Mulder discusses a movie he watched recently (Wrongfully Accused (1998)) that incensed him to no end and Wolfie completed the Movie Challenge for Jungle Fever (1991). Stay tuned for our next slate of episodes on Movies From Our Youth. This year's theme is Kevin Costner, so we will have episodes on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Waterworld (1995) and Field of Dreams (1989). Enjoy We are now on YouTube! WTM Ep. 331: HOUSE OF WAX (2005) With Zolly Becker!!

WTM Ep. 331: HOUSE OF WAX (2005) With Zolly Becker!!

Mulder and Wolfie T kick off their Horror Extravaganza with returning local legend, Zolly Becker! The theme for this year's Extravaganza is Horror Remakes, and for this episode, Mulder chose House of Wax (2005). It's virtually a remake in name only, however we do discuss the earlier iterations from 1933 and 1953, as well as some other films we believe to be the actual inspirations for H.O.W. '05. We also broaden the discussion to touch on other remakes from the late 90's to the late 2000's. This episode got a little crazy with the tangents but by and large, they usually came back around and connected in some way to House of Wax. In fact, we discovered how this much maligned and mostly forgotten remake changed the course of Zolly's life, forever. WTM Ep. 330: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) With Stuart Baulk!

It's that time of year again. In years past on Friday the 13th we've discussed the first 3 films, as well as Part 6: Jason Lives! This time around we discuss Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984). Joining us once again from the Midnight Movie Cowboys podcast is Stuart Baulk and as one might imagine, the show goes off the rails pretty fast. Discussion on this fourth entry in the franchise leads to a spirited debate as to whether or not it's overrated. They also discuss the franchise as a whole and rank each film. Stay tuned for our annual Horror Extravaganza next month! You can find Mulder on Letterboxd HERE. Wolfie's profile can be found HERE. You can follow WTM on Twitter/X right HERE. Brett/Wolfie's Twitter/X can be found HERE. The Midnight Movie Cowboys podcast can be found on most podcast platforms. You can also find more episodes and content on their website right HERE.
