Once upon a time a woman baked five pies and asked her daughter to keep it aside as they would come again. The peasant girl thought that the pies would come up again magically, so she ate them all. At dinner when the mother had nothing to eat, she took to spinning at the door singing songs about how stupid her girl was.  A king who was passing nearby, heard the voice and came to her place. The old lady changed the words to say she was singing about how well her daughter can spin. The impressed king took the village girl as his wife on the condition that after one year of marriage, the girl will have to spin five skins of flax per day for a month, as her mother boasted she could. However, the girl had no idea how to spin and never learned either. But when the time came to spin, she was put in an isolated room to start spinning.
