2003年在中國湖南省發生一起十分轟動的「操場埋屍案」。被害者因為利益衝突，而被殺害、埋屍，屍體與正義被埋藏在中學操場底下超過16年之久。但16年後，挖出來的不僅是遺骸，更是官商勾結、層層相護、息事寧人的各種陋習和不能說破的秘密。而多年後因為電影的翻拍，又讓這件命案再次引發大眾討論。
