Breaking it down: the left radical <em>'忄'</em> (heart/emotion) combines with <em>'咸'</em> (xián, 'all/salty') and another <em>'心'</em> (heart) to form <em>'憾'</em>. Thus the name <em>'无心咸心'</em> (Wúxīn Xiánxīn, literally means 'Heartless Salty Heart') emerged, and by removing the heart radical (无'心') of <em>'憾'</em>, you could also be arrived at '咸心'. This paradoxical blend of <em>'heartless'</em> and <em>'salty heart'</em> paradoxically preserves the original character's essence while lightening its emotional gravity through linguistic play."</p>
