John is most famously known as the skipper of the 1983 America's Cup winning Yacht Australia II, a victory that is hailed as the greatest in international teams sports history. Beyond this, John also completed at 2x Olympic Games (where he won a bronze medal), has been the president of Swimming Australia, started numerous, highly successful businesses in engineering and media, and has been Chair of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Board since 2005.
